HRDF’s Project activity aimed to provide seminars to a total of 100 refugees. The seminars were conducted on 11-12 February 2017 at HRDF’s Center for Syrians in Istanbul. A total of 4 specialist trainers and 4 consecutive Arabic translators took part in the trainings. We hosted 86 Syrian refugees in the first day; and 94 Syrian refugees in the second day. 100 refugees were divided into 4 classes (one for men and three for women.
Refugees came to the Center with their children. Children were located in safe places dedicated for them within the Center and they were provided workshops with the facilitation and supervision of volunteers.
A total of 19 persons worked during the training activity on both days (4 trainers, 4 Arabic interpreters, 4 class facilitators, 2 Center workers, 2 support staff, 1 project staff, 2 security staff). Refugees came from various neighbourhoods using public transportation. Refugees and their children were provided with transportation fee; with lunch and beverages.
The training covered topics of refugees right to health, first aid , trauma recovery, reproductive health, maternal care, etc. The topics were selected based on previous needs assessment that helped determine refugees’ training needs.
Training module was prepared, translated to Arabic, printed in 110 copies and distributed to participants. Participants were asked to fill evaluation forms in Arabic. Participants were very happy after the training; they provided very positive feedbacks.
